Description
Growing tall and proud in the dense forests of West and Central Africa, the African mahogany tree (Khaya ivorensis) is a majestic giant reaching heights of up to 60 meters, with a diameter of up to 1.5 meters. Its brown trunk is marked with small, gray-brown scales, and its rose-red sapwood quickly turns brown with a strong perfumed scent.
Acajou d’Afrique is a tropical hardwood that is prized for its beauty, strength, and durability. African mahogany is currently listed as a Least Concern species by the IUCN. However, it is important to note that over-harvesting can still pose a threat to the species.
